In Memory of Karen Powers

Long before Feral to Family was founded, our family always knew a little something about what it meant to love animals. Our aunt, Karen Powers, was always involved in the community for as long as we could remmeber helping animals, particularly cats. Aside from always having her loved cats at home, Karen spent countless hours of her time volunteering at animal shelters, and eventually, once Feral to Family was founded, fostering dozens of our very own cats and became a staple member of our team.

Every week on off hours, she would spend her time at Catpurrccinos just to visit and socialize the cats in the cattery, because being around them just made her the happiest.

Karen was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012. Though she experienced a period of remission, she has faced numerous recurrences over the past decade. Even during some of her hardest times, she never gave up on what she loved, being around the cats and doing whatever she was able to to care for them. On October 3, 2024, Karen's battle to breast cancer has come to an end and we sadly had to say goodbye to our beloved aunt.

Since the start of Feral to Family and Catpurrccinos, Karen has always been there, and has been one of the best fosters we have ever had. Her love and care for her family, and animals, will never be forgotten and will forever carry in her legacy.
